Coldest Night of the Year
Again this year we participated in the North Bay edition of the “Coldest Night of the Year Walk”. The Coldest Night of the Year Walk is a fantastically fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in communities across Canada.
On Saturday, February 20 in the Coldest Night of the Year, nationally we raised almost $3.8 million dollars for 92 charities across the country! Collectively the country raised 86% of its fundraising goal for these charities!
Locally we not only had a good time, decent weather (unlike the -37 C the weekend prior!) and good company, but we raised $49,195.54 (65% of our goal!) to support The Gathering Place, our local soup kitchen: helping people living in poverty in North Bay.
As a company we regularly support the work of The Gathering Place, and time and time again we can attest to the need for this type of organization in our city. We are proud to be a regular sponsor and we give our appreciation and our kudos to the staff and volunteers that work to provide a hot meal in a warm place to those in need.
The Gathering Place is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that strives to bring hope and healing to North Bay’s hungry (serving both breakfast and lunch). Since opening in 2003, The Gathering Place has served over 300,000 meals to people in need throughout the North Bay community.
